He has spent the last three years developing his own approach to growing entrepreneurial companies – which he calls Systematic Business Innovation. This is based on the principle that, to be a successful entrepreneur, it is not enough to invent a new product or service. It is necessary to innovate every aspect of the business, from the commercial model to the internal culture. What’s more, it is essential to innovate every aspect of the entrepreneurial business at the same time – in an integrated way – because businesses are systems and that is how systems evolve and flourish.
In his presentations in Estonia in January, Steve will explain his unique approach in more detail and demonstrate some simple practical tools to help entrepreneurs in planning and implementing Systematic Business Innovation.
Prof. Kuldar Taveter
Kuldar Taveter has been a Professor of Software Engineering at the Tallinn University of Technology since autumn 2008. Before that, Professor Taveter worked at the University of Melbourne in Australia for three and a half years. Prior to this, he worked at the Technical Research center of Finland (VTT) for eight years. VTT introduces the ideas generated at universities and scientific institutions to the industry. As Taveter himself explains, his return to Estonia was motivated by two factors ? his wife wanted to return to Estonia and he had the chance to apply for professorship at the Tallinn University of Technology.
Australia is a beautiful and sunny, contemporary country that has recently become a dream destination for many Estonians. And Taveter admits that people have often asked him why he chose to leave that great place for Estonia where it is cold and dark. But there are no perfect places to be, and even Australia has its downsides despite its many virtues. ?Seasonal temps or tourists tend to see the country from one perspective only,? says Taveter.
In August 2009, one of the world?s most famous academic publishers, MIT Press, published a book by Professor Taveter and Professor Leon Sterling, titled ?The Art of Agent-Oriented Modeling?. On the one hand, it serves as a textbook for Master?s and Doctoral students; on the other hand, it helps manufacturers and businesses to realise their innovative ideas.
